Community Manager

Required to run ASCEND’s new exciting “Lifeline Project”

Salary: £13,800 21 hours per week (FTE £23,000 p.a.) with flexible working available.

Initially 1 year, with potential to extend subject to funding.

The Community Manager will take the lead on empowering vulnerable and 55+ adults with a variety of community-based opportunities designed to reduce isolation and loneliness and promote inclusion. They will develop and support a volunteer programme, self-organised groups, as well as various other activities that will encourage participation in social, employment and training opportunities.

ASCEND Trustee

ASCEND is seeking to appoint a Trustee to help lead the charity by setting strategy and
the quality and focus of the services we provide. You will share ASCENDs values,
commitment to social justice and our empathetic and personcentred approach to our

As Trustee you will join a group of dedicated colleagues on the Trustee Board and ASCEND
Management. You will contribute to Board discussions including setting policy, budgets and
goals, evaluating performance, keeping abreast of and meeting our legal, governance and
quality standards.

We are seeking people of good judgement and strategic vision who can contribute positively
to the Boards discussions. We particularly welcome applications from people with
experience of delivering education or training programmes, experience of fundraising,
marketing communication or expertise in legal or human resources issues.

The Board meets monthly and Trustees should be able to commit themselves to the work of
the Board for at least five hours a month, including time for training and engaging with
ASCEND staff.

Reception Volunteers

ASCEND are currently seeking volunteers to support our reception desks at our Step Up project in Oxhey Drive. Duties include: answering phone calls, taking messages, meeting and greeting visitors and clients, making appointments for our team and basic administration duties. We are looking for people who would be flexible in supporting ASCEND staff with a strong sense of compassion, a sense of humour and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A Fundraising volunteer to co-ordinate the distribution and collection of our charity boxes in the neighbourhood, and to help with fundraising events.
