Mingle on a Monday (a social club) prides itself on being inclusive, with a focus on creating friendships and reducing social isolation. Whether you’re looking to meet new people, engage in lively conversations, or participate in fun events, Mingle on a Monday is the place to be! 

Members gather for a weekly get together where everyone is encouraged to share stories, laugh, and support each other. The club’s warm atmosphere makes it easy for newcomers to feel like part of the family from the moment they step in. 

Becoming a member of Mingle on a Monday is simple, and the benefits are many. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or new to the area, Mingle on a Monday offers the chance to build friendships, stay engaged, and feel connected. Simply drop in on Mondays, 1-3pm at Watford Rural Parish Council Offices, Oxhey Drive, WD19 7SB to meet the team, see what’s happening, and experience the club for yourself.

Pageturners

A one to one mentorship programme supporting people with their reading needs for everyday tasks including employment, education and official documentation/ forms.

Funded by the Co-op and has been running for the past year evolving from ASCEND’s literacy classes.  Clients have two individual 30 minute face-to-face sessions with a volunteer each week on Monday and/or Friday mornings, times to be arranged with mentor. 

Resources have been provided free of charge by the Shannon Trust.  Students are currently piloting the Shannon Trust’s new digital platform.  At present ASCEND is the only organisation offering this programme in Hertfordshire and recently attended a symposium to share and discuss future development with the Shannon Trust who are looking to extend the offer with numeracy programmes
