Building Better Opportunities

Building Better Opportunities Funding supports projects in England that tackle poverty and promote social inclusion.  It is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund.

One element of the BBO is STRIVE – (The Support and Transition Routes into Volunteering and Employment in Herts).  ASCEND, as a BBO Partner, runs one of the STRIVE hubs at Step Up (39 Oxhey Drive, South Oxhey), currently running  on a Wednesday.  Our BBO Mentor Eileen, together with other ASCEND colleagues, supports people furthest from the job market.  Click here to read a recent interview with our BBO Mentor Eileen.

If you are:-

  • aged 19+
  • registered unemployed
  • economically inactive

then this could be for you.  Tailored help is provided to help clients move into sustainable employment, volunteering or education.  Here is Erin talking about her experience of being a client on the BBO Project. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1_fJKGMT4c

To get a flavour of the BBO STRIVE project and what we do, please watch the video below, or take a look at the following video where some of our BBO STRIVE clients won a sustainable art award:  https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RfaUHdCG722Fs6vCHfXWaNZBY3hwjWJo
