Volunteers underpin the work we do here at ASCEND.   Without them, we could not undertake the programme of work we currently provide, let alone expand it.  We currently have more than 30 volunteers ranging in age from 16 to 80. They perform a diverse range of tasks from manning our reception to helping run some of our classes and have great fun too!.  Our client counsellors are also volunteers.

All our volunteers are provided with training appropriate to their interests and work and meet regularly to be updated on any new initiatives and information about ASCEND successes, direction, policy etc.  Both staff and volunteers regularly get together for training events such as Embedding Skills for Life.  We also encourage and help our volunteers gain NVQ or similar qualifications via the NextStep Partnership.
