Trustees and Management of ASCEND
The ASCEND Management Board consists of seven people, all of whom live within the Three Rivers Council District area. They meet on a monthly basis, here at ASCEND, to discuss and initiate management/ policy issues and make a point of regularly meeting staff members and holding “away days” to review achievements, concerns and development/ forward planning matters. Collectively they add invaluable skills, experience and support to the running of ASCEND.
They are: -
- The Revd. Pam Wise (Chair of Trustees), is the Vicar of All Saints’ Church. Her work continually involves, first hand, the daily issues facing our local residents. She has extensive experience with regeneration projects in areas of urban deprivation. She initiated a shop project on a large housing estate in Brent to offer support and advice to the unemployed and lone parents. During her time in Queens Park, Bedford she was closely involved with the Single Regeneration Partnership and founded the Queen’s Park Women’s Forum.
- Gill Shelley (Trustee), is the former Associate Dean of West Herts College. She is now an Educational Consultant and OFSTED Inspector. Her many educational skills are invaluable in supporting the courses that ASCEND offers.
- Bryan Hogg (Trustee) is the Monitoring Officer at ASCEND and is a retired Director of the National Audit Office. He assists ASCEND on financial and auditing issues.
- Alan Cantelo (Trustee) is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and is now retired from the position of Treasurer of one of Britain’s largest companies.
- Brian Thomson (Trustee) has spend thirty years in the Bristish Government’s Department of International Development. During that time he has been involved in funding many development projects.
- David Wallis (Management Board) is the Treasurer of ASCEND, having been Hon. Treasurer at St. Marks Church, Watford for over 20 years. He is now retired from being Project Leader at GEC-Marconi.
- Christine Wyard (Management Board) is the ASCEND Project Manager and manages the project on a day-to-day basis. She has worked for ASCEND for 9 years and lives locally.
