ASCEND has seven permanent members of staff and team-work really matters to them as no two days are ever alike. High standards of professionalism and training play an important part in their everyday work. Their achievements were first recognised in 2003 when ASCEND became the first project in Hertfordshire to received the Matrix accreditation award for Information, Advice and Guidance work. This was followed in 2004 with the award of Investors in People and the Plum Customer Service award. ASCEND were re-accredited with Matrix in January 2006 and June 2009 and re-accredited with Investors In People in March 2007. In November 2007, ASCEND’s work was further recognised by winning the Hertfordshire Business Awards, Business in the Community category. In March 2008, the Project Manager, Christine, was presented with a High Sheriff of Hertfordshire award which she generously accepted on behalf of all the staff and volunteers at ASCEND. This year ASCEND again received an award from the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire in recognition of continued service to the South Oxhey community.
Project Manager - Christine
Christine is responsible for the day to day running of ASCEND; managing staff and volunteers who provide its services to our clients. She is a member of the management team and is responsible for progressing new initiatives to meet the increased demand for ASCEND services.
Guidance Worker - Liz
Liz provides guidance to the clients and can help with Job Search and internet search, CVs, Job Club, Applications and Mock interviews. ASCEND are now partners with Shaw Trust and Herts Careers Service. Liz delivers the ’Skills Development Programme’ (preparation training for Routeways) and ’Flexible Routeways’ for unemployed people living in the South Oxhey and Three Rivers area.
Course Co-ordinator - Jane Jane co-ordinates all the ASCEND courses, liaising with local colleges and other providers to ensure a wide variety of relevant courses for our clients.
Outreach Worker - Angie Angie liaises with individuals and community groups around South Oxhey and the immediate area, co-ordinating new projects to promote community cohesion.
Administration Officer - Sue Sue co-ordinates all the administration work for ASCEND. This ranges from producing course brochures and newsletters to answering the phone and organising the awards evening.
Client Support Worker - Roy
Roy supports clients by giving them the help they need on a one to one basis to encourage and motivate. They will also work closely with other members of the team and tutors.
Facilities Manager - Ekky Ekky looks after the new Step Up project building (shared between ASCEND and Herts Mind Network) and activities held at 39 Oxhey Drive.
Fundraiser - Michele
Michele works for ASCEND on a freelance basis - putting together funding bids and initiatives. She also co-ordinates ASCENDs publicity and promotional work.
