ASCEND has five permanent members of staff and team-work really matters to them as no two days are ever alike. High standards of professionalism and training play an important part in their everyday work. Their achievements were first recognised in 2003 when ASCEND became the first project in Hertfordshire to received the Matrix accreditation award for Information, Advice and Guidance work. This was followed in 2004 with the award of Investors in People and the Plum Customer Service award. ASCEND were re-accredited with Matrix in January 2006 and re-accredited with Investors In People in March 2007. In November 2007, ASCEND’s work was further recognised by winning the Hertfordshire Business Awards, Business in the Community category. In March 2008, the Project Manager, Christine, was presented with a High Sheriff of Hertfordshire award which she generously accepted on behalf of all the staff and volunteers at ASCEND.
Project Manager - Christine Christine is responsible for the day to day running of ASCEND; managing staff and volunteers who provide its services to our clients. She is a member of the management team and is responsible for progressing new initiatives to meet the increased demand for ASCEND services.
Guidance Worker - Liz Liz provides guidance to the clients and can help with Job Search and internet search, CVs, Job Club, Applications and Mock interviews
Guidance Worker - Morag ASCEND are now partners with Shaw Trust and Herts Careers Service. Morag delivers the ’Skills Development Programme’ (preparation training for Routeways) and ’Flexible Routeways’ for unemployed people living in the South Oxhey and Three Rivers area.
Administration Officer - Duhita
Duhita co-ordinates all the administration work for ASCEND. This ranges from producing course brochures and newsletters to answering the phone and organising the awards evening.
Client Support Worker - Chelcie Chelcie supports clients by giving them the help they need on a one to one basis to encourage and motivate. She also works closely with other members of the team and tutors.
Course Leader - Position Vacant
This post co-ordinates all the ASCEND courses, liaising with local colleges and other providers to ensure a wide variety of relevant courses for our clients.
Fundraiser - Michele Michele works for ASCEND on a freelance basis - putting together funding bids and initiatives. She also co-ordinates ASCENDs publicity and promotional work.
