Building New Directions

A key element of ASCEND’s work is in the area of information, guidance and skills development/training to address the Governments “Skills for Life” agenda.  Our aim is to move people forward and help them gain more control over their lives by challenging their perceived barriers to education and training; enabling them with self-esteem, confidence and new skills. We have achieved many successes in helping local people get jobs, either for the first time in their lives, or after a long absence from the workforce.

Outreach

ASCEND is well known in the community and we want to make sure we offer services which our community want.  To this end, our outreach programme "Involve 2 Evolve" involves raising awareness of who we are and what we can offer.  This face-to-face work not only increases our visibility, range of courses and client base but also encourages people who feel isolated or reluctant to seek help and advice, to access our services.  This service also extends to working with other community groups including local children’s centres, Oxhey Library, Northwick Day Centre, The Haven Centre, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Nine Lives Furniture Recycling project in Rickmansworth.  Our outreach work also has excellent links with the local probation service, youth offending team and other local providers.

For more information on this service, please phone our Outreach Worker Angie on 07961 533260
