Caring for Young People For some time we have been aware of the vulnerability of young people who walk out or are thrown out of the family home after violent arguments, or who have nowhere to go after leaving care.
The young person can come to use and we sometimes cannot place them into accommodation immediately. Too often, they can be left to wander the streets, sleep in the park or a bus shelter and possibly be picked up by people who may involve them in drugs / prostitution.
CRASHPAD was born out of our feelings of desperation and helplessness. We have set up a register of ‘Host’ families who are willing to accept into their homes the young person who have nowhere to sleep that night.
We guarantee that the Host will have the young person for no more than fourteen nights, and during that time we will be working with other agencies towards either family reconciliation or alternative accommodation.
